Services for visitors

The three Tourist Info centers (Albertinaplatz, Vienna International Airport and Hauptbahnhof Main Station) supplied around 150,000 visitors with in-person information about Vienna as a destination in 2021. Though roughly in line with the total for 2020, this figure was still down on 2019 by around 80%. The teams operating the four mobile Tourist Infos provided up-to-the-minute information to around 2,000 additional visitors during the summer months at different locations throughout the city. The Vienna Hotels & Info team fielded around 50,000 written and telephone enquiries during the year. There is a strong trend towards online communication on social media. Set up in July 2020, the chat channel at vienna.info conducted more than 3,000 chats in 2021.

In terms of advertising materials that determine Vienna’s appearance in global markets (city maps, brochures, pamphlets and posters), around 70 publications were produced in 10 languages in 2021 (total print run of approx. 3 million). These included “spot” (a new production replacing the previous monthly program event brochure) and “route”, which shows walks through the city – without smartphones or the internet – taking participants to places full of enjoyment and relaxation with a touch of Viennese charm. Owing to a drop in uptake due to the coronavirus pandemic, the validity of a number of brochures and maps produced in 2020 was extended until the second half of the year for sustainability reasons.
